A weekly, highly personal and subjective list of performances and artists we want you to know about:

Martha says:

If Jillian Sweeney’s particular brand of body/identity investigation weren’t so interesting in itself, it would be worth seeing “Arrows & Errors” anyway. The quartet of dancers she’s assembled to co-create and perform with her is delicious: Jodi Bender, Laurie Berg, Tara O’Con, and Lindsay Reuter could each be recommended for their own marvelous dance movement and adventures. The relationships among these five will be as much an anchor of this two-act work as the themes Sweeney has targeted: the memory and history we carry in our bodies and “reality that exists beneath the histories we write down.” Sweeney, and the women who dance with her, each offer doses of magic in their own work. The assemblage is wizardry. At University Settlement House for two weekends, opening Friday, November 3 at 8 pm.

Leigh says:

More deliciousness, with the sweet taste of nostalgia. Legendary ballerina Tanaquil Le Clercq was felled by polio, but life went on, and so did she, becoming an author and teacher. Works & Process features a celebration of the 50th anniversary of the publication of Le Clercq’s “The Ballet Cook Book,” and the program is very tasty: Food scholar and ballet aficionado Meryl Rosofsky curated and moderates; her guests are Allegra Kent, Jacques d’Amboise, Jared Angle and Adrian Danchig-Waring. There will be dancing; of roles originated by the cookbook’s contributors and The Wright – the Guggenheim’s restaurant – will be serving recipes from the book, including Le Clercq’s Chicken Vermouth, Balanchine’s Slow Beet Borschok, Melissa Hayden’s Potato Latkes, and Kent’s Walnut Apple Cake. Yum. Sunday and Monday, November 5-6 at 7:30 pm.
